Without firing a shot, the Allied powers lost the first battle of World War III on March 9, 2020, when Italy declared a nationwide lockdown of the economy. One country after another then capitulated to the "invisible" enemy. Seventy-six years earlier, it had been different. After more than 100,000 American, British, Canadian, French and other soldiers invaded Normandy on June 6, 1944, Franklin Delano Roosevelt prayed in a radio address to the almighty God: "Our sons, pride of our Nation, this day have set upon a mighty endeavor, a struggle to preserve our Republic, our religion, and our civilization, and to set free a suffering humanity." He laid it on the line: "Some will never return. Embrace these, Father, and receive them, Thy heroic servants, into Thy kingdom." The Allied powers lost more than 60 million men, women and children protecting their way of life. World War III was lost because these same peoples were unwilling to make the sacrifice.
