ČSSD hit back at ODS on Sat. with an advertisement that blamed the blue party for allowing tunnelers to steal the nation's wealth during the 1990s. It mentioned five of the tunnelers by name - Kožený, Stehlík, Soudek, Zemek and Železný. What ČSSD didn't say is that it's been in office seven years and has put very few of the tunnelers in jail. Instead, it has sat by as the statute of limitations slips by. Every passing year brings another giant sigh of relief in this or that empire. Not since Hana Marvanová of the Freedom Union (US) left politics has anyone made an issue of the statute of limitations on crimes against the economy. Ex-Deputy Police President Miroslav Antl mentioned extending the limit, but to no avail. Whoever doesn't remember the 1990s will vote for ODS, ČSSD said in its ad.
