How to get elected
2005-08-18
As CEO of TV Nova, Vladimír Železný hired the CR's first black
anchorman and constantly preached racial tolerance. Strange
that he's now the one opposing the "Islamization" of Europe.
Železný also established the system of inviting only the major
political parties to participate in TV debates. Strange that he's
now the one who praised Czech TV for breaking this "taboo" by
inviting small parties to a debate. Železný is a great manipulator
who, through superior intelligence and calculated
aggressiveness, stifles criticism of his actions and words. When
Týden reported that he had reached an agreement with CME to
give up any claim to TV Nova, he abruptly ended the discussion
by saying he'd never negotiate with CME. Given his behavioral
patterns, it wouldn't be strange at all if he flip-flopped on this
too and cut a deal with CME. A deal, perhaps, that also calls for
giving him positive TV coverage in the election campaign.
