Internet profits

Soon after Petra Buzková took over as education minister, she quietly canceled a few of the contracts connected to the "internet for schools" program. Not long thereafter, her name hit the headlines because she, as a Social Democratic education minister, had decided to send her young daughter to an elite, French-run school that costs Kč 100,000 per year. Then criminal charges were filed against her husband with regard to his past tenure at Česká spořitelna. Buz-ková refused yesterday in Lidové noviny to speculate about any conspiracy against her, but some people claim that she was being warned not to touch any more of the lucrative internet contracts. IT Minister Vladimír Mlynář is now about to take over the internet program. He was a big critic of the way it was organized and wants to make changes. How far will he dare to go?
