Kalousek wants power, not reform
KDU-ČSL Chair Miroslav Kalousek was excited about the
possibility that President Jaromír Drábek of the Economic
Chamber might become industry minister. He told Ekonom that
KDU thought it would be very sexy to allow a civic group like the
Economic Chamber to have a share in the power. He said KDU
was ready to offer political cover to Drábek, an independent, as
a way to show that it's serious about improving the business
climate. However, after Drábek was passed over and Martin Jahn
was named deputy premier for economics, Kalousek told the
BBC that Jahn, as an independent, might find very soon that his
ideas for improving the business climate aren't realizable. The
will doesn't exist in Parliament to carry out true reform, he said.
Strange, when Kalousek thought his man would get the reform
agenda, he was brimming with optimism. atmosphere
