PBJ down but not out
One of the simplest ways to inflict damage on an
opponent in a commercial dispute in the CR is to place
an advertisement suggesting that he doesn't pay his
(bad) debts. Two disgruntled former employees of the
Prague Business Journal did just that yesterday. They
ran a big ad in the Prague Post seeking "other
creditors" of the PBJ in what amounts to a common
dispute over past wages, where unethical employee
behavior was an issue. Despite ongoing negotiations,
they chose the Prague Post as a way to inflict maximum
damage among English speakers. PBJ Associate
Publisher Jeffrey Osterroth admitted that the paper has
gone through tough times and hit bottom in the spring. It
also owes money for back taxes and printing, he said,
but it's agreeing on payment calendars. He's confident
that the new management is putting the paper on the
right track.
