News from Právo today that Miroslav Kalousek is under criminal investigation forsuspicion of taking a bribe from Marek Dospiva of Penta will shake things up politically.Remember what Kalousek said on Feb. 10? "The case of a state contract for Promoprois so serious that I consider it out of the question for anyone responsible forthis contract to have government decision-making authority until the matter is investigated."He didn't succeed in forcing Defense Minister Alexandr Vondra out of office.Not yet, at least. (See today’s Aktuálně.cz.) Now it's Kalousek's turn to apply the samemorality to himself. But in actuality, Kalousek's case is more like Martin Roman'sthan Vondra's. Kalousek and Roman have been untouchable for years and are nowbeing brought down to size, even if they never go to prison. It's tempting to think, atleast for a moment, that this means things are changing in the Czech Republic.

Glossary of difficult words

untouchable - being beyond the reach of criticism, impeachment or attack;

to bring/beat/knock/cut someone down to size - to make a person more humble.
