If you believe, as PM Bohuslav Sobotka said yesterday, that the appointment of Ivan Pilný to replace Andrej Babiš closes all debate about Babiš's conflicts of interest and that this is a good thing, because the scandals around Babiš's past and his business activities will no longer impede the functioning of the cabinet.... If you share the prediction of political scientist Daniel Kroupa that interest on the part of journalists in Babiš's scandals will plummet now that he has left the cabinet.... If you accept, as Pilný himself insists, that the new finance minister is no rebel... If you believe, as Deník wrote today, that Pilný might have some unorthodox views but will not veer one iota from the Babiš line.... If you believe, as ex-PM Vladimír Špidla said in HN today, that the economic, political and media conglomerate around Babiš is a menace to the democratic system.... If you agree with TOP 09 Chair Miroslav Kalousek that Pilný will be the proxy and long arm of the oligarch Babiš.... You might conclude that, thanks to Sobotka, Babiš is now in a better position than ever before to exploit his menacing conglomerate. [Czech Republic Agrofert ANO ČSSD adviser Hospodářské noviny]
