Prime Clerk LLC, a business-restructuring unit of Kroll Business Services, is using advertisements in Czech publications to recruit people who have a claim against Purdue Pharma or its owners, the Sackler families. Under a proposed bankruptcy plan, the Sackler families would pay $4.275 billion over nine years, in addition to $225m previously paid to the U.S. to resolve civil claims related to their role in the opioid crisis. Purdue Pharma is the maker of OxyContin and other opioids, which have allegedly caused thousands of deaths as a result of action by the company to downplay the risks of its products and to overstate the benefits. Johnson & Johnson, another opioid maker, reached a $230m agreement last week with the state of New York to resolve claims. It took 20 years for governments and the medical profession to start taking the opioid situation seriously. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimate that opioid overdoses killed 500,000 Americans over this period. Some of the same doctors who were pushing opioids are now pushing miracle covid vaccines with the same enthusiasm. [ Czech Republic pushers covid-19 coronavirus mRNA ]
