Under Czech law it is a criminal act, subject to up to five years in prison, to incite or promote an offensive war in which the CR is to participate, or otherwise to support war propaganda. If this is done in the media, it is subject to a prison sentence of up to 10 years. Czech supporters of a no-fly zone over Ukraine argue that such a military operation would be defensive (on the request of Ukraine), and not offensive. However, an effective no-fly zone would require attacking Russian units and shutting down Russia's air-defense systems, which in some cases are located in Russia and Belarus. Opinion polls in the U.S. show that many people still don't understand that a no-fly zone means going to war with Russia, but most of the warmongers in the CR who are pushing for a no-fly zone know exactly what they are doing. State prosecutors have been curiously quiet. They warn of the criminal implications of supporting Russia in the war, but not of supporting a war with Russia.
