The TV drama Snowfall shows how the CIA was allegedly behind the spread of crack cocaine in Los Angeles as a way to finance the Contras in Nicaragua. Promoting national interests sometimes means promoting human tragedy. Today's special session of Parliament will give ANO another chance to link PM Petr Fiala and his adviser Miloš Růžička to murder, money laundering and major financial fraud around PDZ credit union, where Růžička's PR agency, Bison & Rose, was an important member. Růžička was also an adviser to then-Interior Min. Milan Chovanec of ČSSD when Agáta eavesdropping equipment worth Kč 200m disappeared. The name of the deputy head of the ÚZSI foreign-intelligence office at the time, Zdeněk Blahut, has resurfaced in the PDZ scandal. If BIS counterintelligence is perhaps keeping silent about PDZ because national interests are at stake, it's going to get increasingly difficult to avoid saying what they are given how much human tragedy is involved.
