A sort of post-Brexit triumvirate of Emmanuel Macron, Friedrich Merz and Keir Starmer is taking shape, and their ambassadors in Prague published an op-ed in HN on Mon. in which they argued against delaying climate measures. Stéphane Crouzat, Andreas Künne and Matt Field wrote that climate change doesn't stop just because of economic or security concerns. In an interview before they wrote this, ČEZ CEO Daniel Beneš told Czech Radio that the Green Deal is Ursula von der Leyen's marketing slogan for her political agenda and isn't some kind of higher truth. He's been saying for years, he added, that it's ill-conceived, reckless and too marketing and politically oriented. He's still angry with EDF and a certain EU commissioner, but he also has another good reason for resisting any pressure from Paris, Berlin, London or Brussels. Andrej Babiš wants to destroy the Green Deal entirely, permanently and without compromise, and Beneš wants to remain at the helm of ČEZ if Babiš ever gets his chance.
