How many illegal workers would be found at a car plant in the CR if the immigration police conducted a raid of the kind at a Hyundai facility in Georgia last week? Any illegals at a Czech plant probably wouldn't be employed directly by the car maker, just as in the Georgia case, but HN reported in May that up to an estimated 500,000 people work in the grey economy through illegal employment agencies. The U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security said it was sending "a clear message that those who exploit the system and undermine our workforce will be held accountable." Such raids are controversial, because illegal employment has become part of the American way. Donald Trump declared, though, that the "American people deserve a federal government that puts their interests first and a government that understands its sacred obligation to prioritize the safety, security, and financial and economic well-being of Americans." We'll soon see whether Trump is an inspiration for Czechs in this way too. [ Czech Republic ICE Hospodářské noviny foreign foreigners jobless ]
