National Security Adviser Hynek Kmoníček told Deník that the green-energy numbers indicate that Europe is reaching the point of heading directly toward economic suicide. The perceived immediacy of this rather undiplomatic statement from a career diplomat will be critical for the outcome of the Czech presidential elections in 2028. SPD Chair Tomio Okamura said yesterday that the ruling coalition has a big chance of winning with a joint candidate who would be the president of Czechs and not of the EU Commission. Moto Chair Petr Macinka told Echo that Pres. Petr Pavel, who more or less announced his reelection bid last week, calls for abolishing the crown, hails the EU's climate policy and was perhaps the first to talk about abolishing the EU veto. Whoever Okamura, Macinka and Andrej Babiš anoint to challenge Pavel (Kmoníček, by the way, checks most of the boxes) will present himself as the Czech candidate and Pavel as the suicide candidate. The timing of world events will decide the rest. [ Czech Republic Motorists European Commission ]
