Supreme State Prosecutor Lenka Bradáčová was a witness in the bitcoin scandal and, as is customary practice in such a situation, had to recuse herself from the procedural aspects of it. What isn't customary is that she called a press conference yesterday to defend herself against speculation that she took steps in the case to benefit ex-Justice Min. Pavel Blažek and perhaps herself too. She of course didn't say that this is why she called the press conference, but every aspect of how the event was orchestrated suggested that it was. She insisted, for example, that neither she nor Olomouc Senior State Prosecutor Radim Dragoun has any reason to be beholden to Blažek for their positions. The famous line from Shakespeare is, "The lady doth protest too much." Yesterday's press conference will only serve to increase the speculation about what Bradáčová is up to in the bitcoin case, and also about whether Justice Min. Jeroným Tejc has the political will and the political backing from PM Andrej Babiš to get to the bottom of it. [ Czech Republic ANO ODS Deník N ]
